I'm very particular about my eyes. I could never, ever, ever wear contacts. The thought of having a foreign substance touching my eyes for more than an attosecond at a time totally creeps me out. Thinking about getting Lasik makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Take the pickiness about contacts and Lasik, multiply it by about 1,000 and you'll arrive at how picky I am about glasses. You can call me a spoiled brat if you'd like, but if I don't get new glasses once a year, I go nutso. Honestly, I'm not that much of a clothes person, so I have to have something that I can excitedly spend my money on. My new glasses came in today and I don't think I've been this geeked out in a long time.
A fresh set of eyes is something that we all could use. Not literally, of course, because the transplant surgery for that exceeds disgustingness. No, a fresh set of eyes to look over our lives. God certainly provides that for us. Spending time in His word is a great reminder that no matter what, there's always something that I can be doing to make my life better or to be helping other people. Even more important than a fresh set of our own eyes is being able to see with God's eyes. If you ever need a powerful prayer, that's one that will knock you flat on your butt. Seeing things the way God does completely changes your view. Not only do you become more compassionate, but you also begin to understand the reason for Jesus. No matter what we do, we'll always need the game changing power of the cross. That shouldn't give us an excuse to sin, but rather challenge us to do better in an attempt to deserve the gift.
Enough of the ramblings...off to settle in for a good night of tv.
