Celestial Musings

Beautiful art in the Celestial Seasonings Tour Center

I really wish that I would be able to live in the fantastical world that is the art on the packages of Celestial Seasonings teas. Everything looks so happy and stress free, which is good because that means they have a good corporate branding department. :) Take the painting above, for example. If I could sit on a moon sliver and just drink tea for the evening, I would do it in a heartbeat. But, sadly responsibilities call me away.

I bring this up because we took the Celestial Seasonings tour yesterday, which I hadn't done since I was a kid. It certainly had a different tone than it did when I was a kid, though. The "magic" of a factory tour is lost on me. I guess it's partly because of "How it's Made" on the Discovery Channel and partly because I work in a manufacturing facility. It also could be that we went on a weekend. My favorite part, though, still was the Peppermint room. The room has so much mint in it that it burns your eyes and completely clears your sinuses. I breathed air yesterday that has been rotting in the deepest darkest part of my lungs since 1996. In fact, I've been breathing a TON better ever since. Not that I have allergy problems, but if I did I'd beg to live in that room.

After the Celestial Seasonings tour, we went to the Pearl Street mall. I really enjoy walking around there. There's always such an eclectic mix of people who are street performers that you could spend all day there and be entertained for the cost of a couple of bucks into someone's guitar/piano case. For some reason, I feel at home there. I think that living where I do removes a bunch of diversity from my life. It's even been called "the vanilla valley" by one of my friends. Pearl Street is a place that reminds me that there are other people that don't even remotely share my morals or values and that makes me happy.
