Fish and Quarterbacks

There's an adaptation of an old saying that says, "Fish and Quarterbacks begin to stink after 15 seasons." Not really. I came up with that yesterday. I've been learning a lot from watching Brett Favre not be able to let go of being an NFL quarterback. This guy has separation issues like you wouldn't believe! He's turned his legacy from being someone who's destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame with a great record to extreme dislike and animosity from his fans just because he won't go away already! I can't even imagine how his new team must feel, especially the QBs. And granted, I realize that the NFL is a business and you hire the people that you feel will get you a Super Bowl championship. But really, Minnesota? A washed-up 39 year old man with a torn rotator cuff is your best option?

All football aside, it's very hard to be able to respect someone that can never solidify on a decision. Maybe respect isn't the right word....trust seems like a better thing. For some reason Brett has become a dog that's tied to a chain that just doesn't understand that there's a limit to the leash. It's certainly a good lesson for life, though. I've learned that a commitment to something should be laid in concrete, not jell-o. I've learned that decisions should be well thought out and not made on the fly, especially ones that could greatly affect other people. And most importantly, I've learned that at some point in your life, staying home and mowing your lawn in Mississippi just might be your best option.

This has made me want to be a more trustworthy person. No sense in becoming an indecisive middle aged woman before my prime. :)
